After having just made the metal folder from the Retrorides thread, I decided to press my cheapo Lidl vice into service to compliment it by bolting it to an old brake disc!
No big shakes but it does add some decent weight to give me a portable vice to use when I need a wider opening than the "Open Source Bender" for example, when I need to hold a dolly for shaping.
I did having it bolted the other way around to clear the handle but felt it would be more stable this way, if a little annoying when tightening up!

The Lidl one is sitting on top of my one, the only mod I made to it was to turn the feet outwards to give it a bigger footprint, whereas the original has the feet facing inwards:

I have some intrest in a portable vice I can take out on jobs. I don't think this forfills what I want
But
Why the heck don't you chop off the offending projection that stops you working the Tommy bar correctly?

Then I may as well have left it the other way around, I get more stability when hammering like this as the jaws are nearer the centre of the disc, stability or easy of tightening, I have to trade something.

That little Record on the right, sitting bolted flush to a half inch plate is the single most useful vice in my workshop.

You can position it mid bench or hang it over an edge as god intended. Being low and heavy, in operation it's almost as good as a fixed vice. Use it all the time.
