I should have checked the motor before trying it, but it looked almost as new and seemed fine spinning it by hand. I bought it from the scrapyard so should have been cautious.
1hp 440/220v motor 750w, 900rpm and I changed the connectors to run on delta.
Wired it up to to spare (cheap) vfd and when I switched on, small flash from motor connection box and smoke from the vfd.
Motor and vfd now useless.
I have scrapped the motor but wonder if there is some way I can get the vfd repaired?
I had it from AliExpress but they say parts are unavailable now.
Through no fault of mine, this vfd gave problems after I just got it, some parts melted inside and AliExpress sold me new pcb's that sorted it but checking on my orders it says the parts are now unavailable.
I was only keeping it as a spare vfd, so it's not too important to me to have it repaired but can it be sorted or is it for the bin?
A look inside didn't show any signs of anything that has burned or melted.
Btw, when I checked the motor with a multimeter I found that 2 of the windings showed continuity, no resistance from windings to earth.
