Evening all.
I have a bench drill like this:
Nothing special, but it’s fairly well built. It’s due a bit of a refurb, and I’ve always liked the idea of having a variable speed pillar drill.
It currently has a 1ph motor. Could I add a VFD and / or swap the motor and do away with the pulley speed change?
I’ve seen affordable kits on eBay for Myford lathes etc. but what considerations do I need to look at in terms of the specs?
Are there any drawbacks, eg. reliability or loss of torque?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
