Review Vevor 1 Ton Arbor Press

I am guessing my No3 is a generic larger one than the 1, tooling insert aperture on mine is smidge over 1/2" and all the bolts on it are 5/16 UNC.
I've ordered some 1/2" silver steel round bar to make some tooling / punches, and 5/16 retainer bolts. Saying in case there is a bit of a mix of imperial and metric? on the No 1



Good one cheers definitely looking at that rack mod to do, I don't have that shim plate in mine at the head so might take a look at that although its not that wobbly as a press tool.

4 times the weight and roughly 5 times the price for the 3 ton, I think is quite fair. Is the 1 ton not adequate for you?

I'd say 1 tonne is not adequate for most all operations apart from very light duty tasks. 1 tonne is not alot of pressure. I have a 20 tonne hydraulic press and have maxed it out on a few jobs before.

I'd agree with Joe, you can make 1t of force easily with a solid hit with a good hammer, it's not a lot in the scheme of moving or settings things.

Chains are a light duty task. Hydrualic jack type press would be a pain for this sort of work. Different purpose!

A club hammer makes a lot of noise, while this is much quieter, otherwise I'd stick with the club hammer.

Simply different tools for different tasks. That little press is ample for a lot of smaller tasks, & more refined than a hammer.

I'd agree it's a different use type tool. If you watch the whole vid @Misterg posted, Old Tony talks about more feedback and feel over a hydraulic press for certain jobs - although I would love a hydraulic and the space to go with it.

The vid also goes over greasing points, found a few drops of oil through those oil points is more than good and improved smoothness on mine a lot.
I did knock up jib/shim plate for the front screws but also for the left side screw pocket, probably overboard but minutes to so.

Also checked squareness to table and its pretty much cock on under pressure. @My Old Landy got one made on a good day
I did the handle position mod, took out 2 teeth, quickly realised that a No3 is engaging more teeth than a No2, so had to take a 3rd out for it to work. @Kram Worth checking on the No1 if you do it - would think 2 teeth would be good tho on that.

Although Old Tony is pretty light hearted, I would not clunk it around when you can "free wheel" it, won't do any good to the rack or pinion, also best to support the rack with freehand when you get to that point as the weight and the toothless space will make the rack want to pitch in and foul.

I could have done this with a powerfile But not used my tiny mill for ages.

Not sure what future pressing needs might be but bought 200mm of 1/2" silver steel for No3 and cut into 50mm lengths.
Put a sort of dog point on the 5/16 securing bolt and a relief in the 50mm bits to match, probably unnecessary..

Put a 6mm hole in one and a 4mm slot in another and tapped m4 for holding screw. Idea I guess is I could put a punch of sorts into the hole and a bar bending bit into the other. The other 2 will leave in case I need to make something specific. Just messing about but beats telly.
