It's a case of pro's and con's and the con's are in the majority here !! I've selected a very sexy sounding American female voice on my Tom Tom, it's like warm syrup !
I have signed up to so many e-petitions I forget which is which. I can't see this one making any difference to anything I want to do. Insurance companies don't strip your car or bike down after an accident to see if you had the ag134/2 brake shoes in or still had a 112 main jet as standard. It's someone scaremongering after reading someone else's interpretation of something they read somewhere ages ago. I've renovated bikes, put write offs back on the road and built home made cars and there's always someone telling me I'm not going to be allowed to do it soon but it's never happened and it never will while people are making money out of it for the gubbin mint.
If it is implemented all MOT stations have to do is find even one non standard component and it's a fail and the vehicle becomes unsaleable. Ok, if it's just an exhaust or intake etc, no problem but there are some very significantly and highly modified vehicles out there, like my Evo 6, which would be almost impossible and financially non viable to return to standard. Not to mention 100's if not thousands of businesses being closed overnight.
It's just another example of unnecessary and invalid interference from faceless bureaucrats.
And how will the define what is standard? anyone who owns an old landrover will know that there was very little records or plan for what bits ended up on the vehicle some times such as brake drums, gearboxes etc. and does a patten part that is interchangeable with a genuine part class as standard? We would be better getting rid of all the people on the road illegal first, sorting dodgy MOT testers, spending road fund licence on the roads before we worry about this sort of stuff.

and getting uninsured drivers off the roads!![]()
there's only one way to fight it, and whinging on forums about it ain't it.![]()
ANPR is sorting that out. I don't see how any driver or vehicle not fully compliant with all legal obligations can escape it !
Pray tell ?
Forums are just about the best way to raise awareness, whinging or not.
That system while good cannot find cloned vehicles. If Reg plates were "isussed" to the registored owner that has an MOT paid road TAX and got Insurance, you are then given a set of plates valid for the next yr
