Very rusty hose clips: prevention

What to use on hose clips to prevent rust?

My project staggers on. Having replaced the starter motor, before we replace the coolant and likely flush the system I thought I might as well replace as many hose clips as is practical. They are very rusty as you can see. Can't move them so I think I will be mostly cutting them off with a Dremmel, unless there are other suggestions?

Read up on hose clips on here and bought Norma and genuine Jubilee ones as advised when some came round cheap on Ebay.

I want to prevent rust in the unwinding mechanism. What's best? Just WD40 or PTFE spray or some kind of grease?

Replace with genuine jubilee but get the SS ones

as above......on certain vehicles I only use SS replacements even if the original is good...........

Yup ^^^ and make sure they are "all stainless" as many out there have a stainless band, but plated carbon steel screw.

I did look at stainless but I need loads and they are quite a bit more expensive. I've bought the others now lol.

Water Dispersant will do nothing useful as it will evaporate quite quickly. I would be using a smear of silicone grease if I was sticking with BZP rather than stainless clips.

ss and a shot of acf50 ,,, just cos it makes the hoses shine too.

the whole lot looks manky including the ally parts just use standard jubily clips they will out last the rest

It is. Car covers are for dust, inside the garage. No good ever came from a covered car left outside.

i have the same one. it is 100% not waterproof, nore does it claim to be. i use it in the garage to keep overspray off.

It is. Car covers are for dust, inside the garage. No good ever came from a covered car left outside.

I have great results with proper quality outdoor breathable car covers. Needs must and they definitely improve outdoor storage conditions for the car. This is from years of experience having several cars covered.

smear of acf 50 when fitting wont hurt , but i have original norma ones on my late 80s vw that are still fine,theyu must be well plated , i dont think you have to worry too much unless driving in the sea

A lot squirt of ACF50 on the thread and it will be rust free forever. It’ll migrate into the nooks and crannies and protect it all. I used it on my bike, that saw use all year round.

ACF50 sounds the job. I'll look into that.

My Lidl cover is supposed to be shower proof but I've had it a few years and I think uv rays might well have broken down what protection there was. I've looked at proper waterproof ones but reviews for most seem a bit mixed.
