A bit like a 419 advance fee fraud, although it could easily be an identity theft scam too.
'er indoors got a Messenger message from a distant relative in Canada who never gets in touch, to say that she had won 50k Dollars from a random draw of Farcebook users who didn't need to apply.
Said relative told her that 'indoors was on the winners list and she needs to follow a link to get her winnings, which no doubt would be a fake Farcebook login page. At this point she mentioned it to me so that I was able to stop her doing so. She has now let this victim's mother in law know, so that she can be told about the hack.
What makes this one different is the fact that the scammer had a Messenger conversation going, so making it appear more plausible.
