Hi All,

I am new to the group, but couldn't help noticing that the chop saw is a Fury, the cheap version of the Rage, smaller motor etc. I got a Rage 2 a while ago a its a good bit of kit. Also its not listed on the Evoloution web site.

OK but I never said anything about a cheap saw. I was just about to buy one from MM. It's got the 1800w motor so it'll do anything I'm likely to need.

Well just done the deed, only opened the box so far, alloy motor housing, the blade guards are thick pressed tin, a plastic handle assembly and a pressed tin base with vice.

The base could do with being a bit thicker and the fixed vice back stop bends a bit if tightened well, but I recon a couple of tacked in webs will sort that little problem out.

I suppect the motor housing, blade guards and pivot bracket on the base are least from the rage 2 and well made

It is a 1800 watt motor with a 30 min duty cycle.

I'm well impressed so far, just have to cut some material now for a test run.

At this price the hacksaw is dead....

Cut some 50x50x05 box with no problem but as above watch the back stop of the vice it will need modifing to be consistant

I bought one!! I love tools, this is going to be a helpful middle-ground saw for cutting pipe, wood and similar. It seems pretty well made, nothing too flimsy. It has a three year guarantee as well which I thought was very good.

i got a rage 3 and its mucking fagic! only another £60 from b&q, cuts realy neat compound mitres and has a little laser only thing is you need to be aware of the kerf, can be quite wide. and as they say its a cold cut, but those teeny tiny chips are bloody hot when they go down your collar!

They are a good deal if thats enough for you, I would have rushed out and got one if I hadn't already got the Rage 3 compound sliding mitre saw.

Well, I do work in wood as well as metal, and all I can say so far is, WOW!!, It's the saw you dream of; It does what it says it can!
wood metal plastic, well made and easy to set up.

Smaller dia tubes benefit from a support strip of timber when cutting due to the wide gap in the fence, and if cutting short bits of anything WATCHOUT they'll fly out the back! the cut is clean and you soon get used to the lazer.

Yes the chips of metal are ***kin hot when they land on you so wear gloves/goggles etc.
(we all wear our safety gear Don't we?)

At last I can cut angle, tube and box with out wobbles! And to the right length !
