I think it was more a case of thousands of expensive parts being sold for under 1% if the list price and a human intervened.
We should invoice them a consultancy fee. After the last time they probably have a full time employee monitoring the forum to see where they have cocked up

I was thinking that myselfWouldn't suprise me.
I did note people complaining about no apology email yesterday and this morning lo and behold am apology email.

The big difference being no one here did anything illegal, the goods were advertised at that price. It was Cromwell's mistake and if they wanted to "express an honest opinion" I think they would lose a few customers. One of the things that really ticks me off is whenever you hear stories about burglars injuring themselves when they're "on the job" then suing the hapless victim for damages. Anyone who breaks into my garage will be lucky to stay alive and not just on the off chance I catch them in there, the place is a minefield of trip hazards and man traps.
This situation with the cheap taps for me is a similar sort of scenario. We were alerted to an issue with an online retailer making a rather obvious error in listing a number of items so cheap to buy it was almost theft. Now some members are complaining that they want some sort of "compensation" for not getting away with the heist.
There is no moral high ground this end of the transaction. Disgruntled members ought to get off their high horse about it and be thankful Cromwell are having to be polite rather than expressing a more honest response to those of us who thought we could nip into their shed and grab a handful of goodies for peanuts.
I got the same email and refund. I ordered a can of cutting fluid to make up the price to over £20 for free postage. They gave me a full refund including the cost of the cutting fluid. Pretty decent of them I thought.

There's no grey area here - they advertised the goods at that price. If you were buying the taps from a bloke down the pub then you might have a point, but that's not the case here. That is the difference and I have highlighted that of course Cromwell can't "complain" for the reasons you state.
But it's a grey area if you think about it. What is the definition of "receiving stolen goods"? You will discover that if you buy a used car or a hacked iPhone from "some bloke down the pub" and it turns out to have been nicked, plod will determine your involvement based on the circumstance of the sale and whether the price was reasonable or lit. "a steal".
Caveat emptor.

They haven't turned up as they were (Fairly obviously) mis priced, however it could have been a genuine stock clearance, but by ordering these no one has done anything dishonest so I'm not sure where the "grey area" is here?
I'm really non fussed about the whole thing, I ordered some, just a set of the sizes I would use so wasn't greedy or anything - they haven't turned up, I got the email and a refund and that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned. Some people seem to have taken the hump a bit, but that's up to them.
Yeah, I don't really get that either, but I can perhaps see why if they had ordered other stuff. All I am "objecting" to is the righteous indignation of those who think Cromwell owe them an apology for not fulfilling the transaction. It was a bit of fun although I never thought I'd "get away with it". Still worth a punt but I blame no one but myself for sending off the money. Cromwell made an honest mistake in the listing, they accepted payment in good faith the only party being a bit cheeky were the buyers who knowingly tried to exploit the situation.
Well looks like this is getting a little heated
