Hi all I am struggling with vertical up mig welding just have big blobs of molten metal running down the joint most of the time any pointers would be great
as said before reduce your amperage by approx 30% are you familiar with the movements to achieve the root penetration & sideways weave ,not easy to describe without a sketch;basically up a tiny bit then side to side 3 x width of root slow enough to create smooth shape fillet no undercuts or craters,& of course with fusion at the edges of join.
If its just a butt you can leave a small gap and come down hand and then travel uphand on the next run but like nickk said low amps. Might be better with heavier plate as well. Test pieces we do are usually 6mm
