Venting a bathroom - vent tiles?

Look mum, it's a round tuit!

OK - 15 months on I still need to sort this as, despite my best efforts, doing absolutely nothing has not improved the situation.

I reckon I want:

> Wall mounted on external wall, 2m off floor, 1m to the right of the shower
> As quiet as is practical
> 100mm
> Timer
> Humidity sensor

Someone (not on here) had recommended a "Xpelair C4HTSR Simply Silent Fan with Humidistat" but the screwfix reviews are pretty poor, mainly on the humidity detection being unpredictable / unreliable.

Any recommendations? Happy to pay up to a ton, given I'm gonna have to spend the same again to hire the scaffold as I'm not doing a 100mm core drill 30ft up a ladder...

envirovent 4 inch timer humidivent fan 85 quid ive just fit a few better than expelair . if your coring it out with a diamond core drill do it from inside to out and use a hoover to catch some of the dust there is no breakout on the outside brick

On the coring, I was worried that it would shatter the render on the outside wall. It would certainly be easier to do it from inside (and I would be happy on a ladder round the other side if I wasn't drilling from there)

could be a bit dodgy with rendering not worth the risk ok on plain brickwork

On the coring, I was worried that it would shatter the render on the outside wall. It would certainly be easier to do it from inside (and I would be happy on a ladder round the other side if I wasn't drilling from there)

Put a long 6 mm masonry bit through the whole wall from the inside and also core drill from the outside along the drill hole to gain a 50mm depth of fan hole then cut the rest from the inside .
Funny story I put a wall extractor in at the deep end of the bath , did all as above but managed to hit the truss tie bar for five inches on the inside of the hole .. result , loads of *%*$£** then carefully drilling the tie out so the core drill missed any steel , it took ages and ages ,

...aaaaand... done!

Scaffolding ordered and erected (I wasn't drilling a 108mm core, 28ft up a ladder!), hole drilled, fan and external vent fitted and sealed, wired into the attic (lighting circuit is a frankenstein mess!), thought a three pole isolater and.... it works!

I know we have a few other threads about AI on here, but I genuinely would have taken twice as long without ChatGPT. Everything from photographing the wiring mess in the attic and asking it to explain which wires go where to doublethinking myself on three+e colours.

Now all I need to do is clean up...

Did you sub fuse the feed to the isolator switch with a 3 amp fuse instead of relying on the 5 or 6 amp lighting circuit trip ?

nope

no one ever bothers fitting them just rely on the 6 amp mcb its only if they get wet or the motor burns out that they blow and go with a pop no matter what size the fuse isby then its out of its guarantee anyhow
