Velux - whats missing?

I picked the window up below for £75. Told it was new and never fitted. It's an older one from the numbers - GGL 102 3000.

Now I get it home, I think some bits of the casing are missing? Can anyone tell me what's not there and not included as part of a slate flashing kit? (I need to buy the flashing kit)

As Gaz says. Flashing kit normally comes in a separate box iirc.

You buy the window and the flashing kit as separate items.

The reason being is that you need different flashing kits for different roof types.

So the "never fitted" is likely true. Just you need the flashing.

Which are quite cheap for current windows, as you can shop about, but more money for older ones as you have to buy them from Sweden, or wherever they come from...

Speak to Velux, I found them very helpful when I had too. They had a problem on older windows with spontaneous shattering of one pane of the DG unit. They provided new DG units for my 20+ year old windows and would have sent someone to fit them too had I not lived where I do. They offered to pay for a local contractor but I chose to do it myself.

It's probably worth speaking to them just to check if yours is one of the cracking ones. You'll need the serial number, it's printed on the spacer between the panes.

I wasn't sure if it should have a vent/top casing attached to the top with the window or if that came as part of the flashing kit?

The 102 code is yhe same size as the C02 and ck02. I will message velux but does anyone know if the kits for yhe ck02 fit the older windows of the same size?

I can't help you on fitting, I didn't do it.

Not a lot of help but it was only last week I sold a new unused GGL-CK Velux with an EDW fitting kit for a red tile roof.
Photo might give an idea of what comes with the window and what is in the fitting kit

One bit of vital advice if your a "newbie" to fitting a Velux, everything can be done from the inside, no need to go on the roof

Ha. Thanks. A mate who has done them before is helping me with this project. But thanks for the tip!

I have emailed velux, but is the ck02 and c02 flashing for slate backwards co.patible with this 102 coded window? It seems like this window is pre2001 and I can't find any specific info about flashing for it!

you can often buy the flashing kits on facebook for the older style ggl windows just need to hunt around a bit .

I think, although I'm not certain without looking, that I may have got a similar reply with mine.

And then went to another arm of velux who took my money and shipped the parts.

if its slate fixing flashing reasonably certain the new flashing can be adapted to fit the older style window as the slate flashing is lots of individual bits not a complete assembly like used on a concrete interlocking tiles

you can use lead for the top and at the foot of the window

as goes for the sides can be done in either tin or lead

there really only trims to seal the sides of the roof

I did wonder that.

I even have a roll of lead that would probably do it with a bit of work but have a feeling that might cost more than a more expensive flashing kit!
