Hi,
I’m re-doing a really basic motorbike (Harley) wiring ‘loom’, which actually consists of about 5 wires, and I’m still confused.
I think I should be using 14 and 16AWG, which looking at online tables seems to translate to 2.5mm. But comparing the original wiring to a bit of 2.5mm tri-rated cable I’ve got lying around the stuff is much bigger - not just the outer diameter (I get that the vehicle stuff can be thin walled insulation) but the conductor itself is bigger. What I need looks like the stuff Halfords sell as ‘8 AMP’, yet if I look at vehicle wiring stockists I’m seeing 1mm rated at 16.5A.
I’m daft at this stuff, help! What should I be looking for, how can I measure the original for comparison, and where can I buy small quantities of cable with odd colour tracers?
