Van battery.

I need a new battery for my VW T4 95.1.9.
I've had a look at the Bosch alt.but the info has rubbed off so not sure of the output but the alts for this van are 90amps so that's probably what I got a couple of years ago...
Halfords are doing good ttadt deals at the moment..
Four come up for my reg.
I want a Yuasa black.. which is one of the choices but for a few quuq more there is the next yuasa up with better spec,b bu it doesn't come up on my reg, would it be okay with my alt?

Try a actual battery store before buying from Halfords

In Devon there is a company called BBL battery''s and it's all they deal in.

Do some mega deal price's and compared to other factors knocked the socks off them.

The extra Ah and CCA isn't a problem for your alternator, as long as it physically fits and terminals are correct layout. Its the discharge/ drain on the battery that your alternator has to deal with and this hasnt changed.

Cheers,yes,I've measured up ,there is loads of room ,is there a limit for this alt or could I go bigger?

I wouldn't like to say, but I cant see why you couldn't have a tractor battery or similar wired up, as long as the continual electrical drain on the system is below 90A. My understanding is that when your car is running the alternator covers electrical demand so you are only ever topping the battery up from starting/leaving lights on etc. ICE installs and campers can have multiple batteries charged off a single alternator.

No experience of this but I have read that some newer cars(BMW) need the bateries coding to the car when they are changed so I guess they may be more particular to having the factory spec. battery

My van is prehistoric...no upgrades,stock 95 electrics.
No leisure battery split charger ect.
Might leave the led interior lights on a couple of hours at night when camping.
Just want boot and braces starting.

I enlarged the battery box on my Landy to take a bigger battery.

If it physically fits ok then go for it, the alternator will be fine for anything you can realistically fit. No problem with double the size you currently have.
Your load on the alternator is more important.

As long as the battery spec for your van is matched, there's absolutely no reason why you cant fit a higher/larger capacity.

The only controlling factor is being able to physically fit the battery and securing it.

My old van had a split charger and leisure battery. Fitted by me.
Worthwhile if you have lights and devices charging a lot when parked up.
Got me out of trouble a few times jump starting myself amd useful for charging drill batteries.

My dads SII had twin 6 volt batteries, I think it was to do with the capacity needed to turn the diesel engine over?.

just get the biggest battery u can to fit in the hole with the highest start amp......just gonna change mine, think the new'un is 95 amp.......would go higher but that battery is a 1/3rd bigger and wont fit.......

Both batteries were under the bonnet as it was a 2 litre diesel, 2nd battery in the passenger seatbox was for the 2.25 litre diesel

Go to a local motor factor first
Id go for a regular varta or exide lead acid type
I tried all the super duper brands and they barely get past 2 years and dont charge up easily once flat

Another vote for Tayna cheaper delivered to my house than I could buy for in the motor factors in Swansea.

try alpha batteries in rochdale just got two for my motorhome very fair price not that far from you
