Today I finished making a smoke machine to test for leaks in the Surf's vacuum system while it's in bits getting some love.
I must admit I knicked the idea off a YouTube video I saw but made a few improvements I think.
Take two 110mm stops end fittings and drill some holes in the lid, on for a Schrader valve and one for a hose barb.
Turn up (roughly) two bolts to run the wire through.
Then wrap some oil lamp wick with about 2 feet of stainless steel lock wire, this gave me about 3 ohms resistance, that seems about right for a 12 volt battery charger to heat it up.
I put some heat resistant sleeving through the bolts to hopefully to stop melting the plastic pipe fittings.
Finished
Here's a video of it working.
It needs a few leaks fixing but I'm well happy with it.
