I bought some super heating nozzles to use on my oxy propane setup... I have a Saffire NM400 torch and had been using a "pepper pot" for heating but wanted more heating power.
one of these:
as well as two sizes of these:
used on this style of torch, just for reference:
Anyway... went to light it up... no oxygen... on further inspection the adaptor only has a centre hole for oxygen which is only active when you press the cutting handle... I assumed it would use the preheating oxygen as well, because this way it's super sketchy to light up... I attempted it ONCE. Light flame on propane, attempt to feather the lever and add oxygen and turn up propane at the same time.... nope! And the only way to feather the O2 in would be to turn it up from the bottle regulator with the lever locked down.#
Looking at the Noz-alls site I could buy a type 5 handle, a HD mixer and a HD neck, this would give flow control of O2.
But... I don't want to buy another torch really, I like my old saffire cutter. and don't want to spend another £70 odd.
Anyway, has anyone else tried these adapters on a NM torch? It seems a bit crap really. I'm tempted to put a shoulder into the adapter with some holes from the O2 preheating circuit, so it can use both preheat and cutting oxygen...
The eng weld adapter has the shoulder for the preheat o2, but doesn't look like there are holes to let the O2 through:
