Got my Star S770 out in the end. 2.0 tip, pressure just about 55 psi with trigger depressed (compressor regulator gauge). Ambient temp about 26C. Spraying distance about six inches with reasonable fan width.
I remembered the induction time and made up half a litre, but went to 20% on the thinners. Seemed to spray OK and it has been left a few days. It is a nice durable finish, the paint in the mixing cup didn't crack or lose adhesion when crushed.
I have found that it seems to have gone on a bit dry. The surface is a little rough and needs 120 grit to level it. What could be causing that? I am flatting it and will do another coat, so would like it to be flatter. If it were cellulose, I would use more thinner or do slower passes, but the latter just gives excessive build, looking like waves on water once dry.
Yes, point taken about the pressure. Spec for the gun is 50 to 65 psi. I went for the tip because it is quite a thick high build paint, but I do have a smaller one I could try for the next coat.
Having little experience with epoxies, I didn't want to put too much thinner in. Is it permitted to thin with gay abandon, or will I destroy the properties of the paint?
As for the Lechler Langy, I will look at that for next purchase, but for now I would like to use the 4l I have left. Any help is appreciated.
