Safely, in a die grinder, carbide burrs scare me, very effective but I hate using the bigger ones for the fear of the head snapping off and impaling me at high speed. Is it normal for burrs to grab and kick? Am I running them too slow? Too much contact area? seems to be more violent kick at higher speeds. I generally use then on 4 out of 6 speed, which I guess is 15k rpm.
I havent snapped any 6mm shaft ones yet but the 3mm heads go some distance and hurt a bit when they detatch.
Might be my die grinder is not upto it or needs better bearings?
Have a 12mm head burr, I cant imagine how that can be safely used at the proper speeds hand held, the cut is far too aggressive to hold onto, so it only gets abused, rarely, in the cordless drill at 2k rpm, on soft stuff and wood
Then I see there are other types. Most of mine are normal double cut. I bought a fine double cut which is better. I see there are extra coarse aluminium cut, which dont look too different to 4 flute endmills. These can be used in a hand held die grinder?!
