using a mobile phone as a landline through wifi

Hi

Running a small fabrication business at the moment

Just about to get the van signwritten but wanting to get a landline number put on it

Don't want to put the farm phone number as want to be able to answer calls differently if they're for business

We have no mobile signal here but I'm just upgrading my mobile to one with wifi calling

Anyone had any experience with a mobile app that lets people ring you on a landline number such as zoiper etc

Not sure about the mobile app side of things but my brother uses Vonage for a business number via net connection and has been very happy with it. It may well be what you're looking for...

What network are you on ?

I don't know where you are exactly but Vodafone seems to have the best coverage in North Wales, I've used phones on Orange, EE, Vodafone etc and I've found Vodafone works best for me. There is the odd spot with no signal but usually that will mean no signal for any network.

I use voipstudio.com I set up a london number.

I have a voip adapter that plugs into the router so i can use a normal phone.

Having checked it looks like Vonage do an app so you can use your mobile to handle all calls to and from your Vonage number so long as you have an internet connection.

I have the 3 app for WiFi phone, it's brilliant, when I'm offshore there is obviously no signal but my phone still works like normal in the accommodation.
another thought - years ago we had a BT hub that came with a phone with a new number - two phone lines wasn't a lot of use to us at home but for a business it may be handy?

I use Voipfone for two businesses. You can have a desk phone with a regional number that works over your broadband. You can then set call forwarding on this phone to your mobile.

Have a look at voip, much more reliable than a app provider.
Vonage used one and have seen any bad reports,or Skype also have geographical numbers available.

I used to use skype with an inbound number its much more expensive than a proper voip system and very unreliable.

Check out Gradwell. They provide all of the VoIP for Crisis at Christmas. Using a combination of landline and mobile apps that are preconfigured.

@dazza so is there no monthly charge with that unit and i can get a local area number setup and diverted to my mobile??
Just rang vonage and they want £15 a month which isn't bad but ontop of our landline bill and mobile we'll be nudging 90 quid a month just for talking!!

I'm on pay as you go.
£3.99 + 4.99 for the 0203 number.
£10.78 a month with tax.

Maybe the £9.99 a month + tax would be better as you get a number (not sure on area code) and free calls.
