My next stupid idea. I'd like to make a self moving generator as I don't want to carry it up the hill back to the house and it seems profligate to use to van to drive a couple of hundred metres.
All the golf carts, invalid carriages and the like I've seen have been DC motors for the obvious reason, likewise electric cars. What would the drawbacks of using a 240V motor be if any, it would save a lot of wiring and invertor complexity.
