usin mig when windy??

hiya guys, some info needed,,,,, im trying to strengthen my strut tops on a transit using 1mm plate, but recently its been a bit windy and im having problems getting a decent weld , im using 0.6 wire and even wacking the gas up makes little difference!! im just wondering would it be better if i used 0.8 flux cored without the gas?? any help or advice would be appreciated gaz

I would try setting up windbreaks,i've used to use an old rug ,damped down ,never caught fire ,smouldered a lot

Yes, I've managed fine in the past by rigging up suitable wind breaks.

you will, its very easy to blow away the gas. This is where gasless is better (mind you 1mm is a bit thin for gasless so youre as bad scalded as burned).

Use a few sheets / blankets to create wind breaks.
