I recall my dad saying, in the pre-M6 days when everything had to go over Shap, there was a truckers cafe at the bottom and you'd see all the wagon drivers stood around chain-smoking and shaking like leaves after they'd made it down in one piece... given the brakes of the era.Interesting video, the "cor blimey guvnor" of the narration is the norm in these 50's videos.
