Used welder - what to look for ?

one of my mates has a welder kicking around in his workshop that he no longer uses (as he has something better)
not sure what it is, but think it might be a clarke 130.
what should i look for when buying it ?
i doubt i'll get the chance to use it before buying, but you never know !

If it is what you think it is, they are a fairly good machine with all parts easily available, surely if he is a mate he will show you it working.

Look for someone to show its working ,on all the materials you want to be able to weld....if he's a mate it will be a clarke.....if he hates you it will be a sip.....
