I had read I wanted Quadro rather than GeForce but didn't really know why. Do you pay for drivers? A lot of used cards say they don't come with them.
Firepro is AMD isn't it? Will that play nicely with Intel CPUs?
I'll go for the eBay Quadro linked above then if that'll reduce the number of headaches getting it working. Thanks for the offer though Rocketman.Just download the lastest drivers from the manufacturer.
The Quadro would be a better bet than the FirePro as you’ll have better luck with Server OS compatibility.

What is rendering? I hear it a lot in relation to graphics cards and really have no idea what it means.
Wow that does look bad. Matt what's different about the Firepro that might not make it work on a server OS?If this is the correct passmark score for it I wouldn't bother in fact if it's that bad someone should be paying you to take it.

It's showing E5450 3.00Ghz x 4 doesn't that mean 4 cores are available ?Only one CPU seems to be active but I'll sort that out later.

Standard kernel is SMP these daysHave you got a kernel that supports multiple processors installed ? It's been a long time since I used any kit with multiple CPU's but I do recall I had to use a SMP enabled kernel.
