Use for an old stairlift?

I've been allowed to take one apart that's not needed any more (It was used my great grandma who died last year, it's just been in the way since then.)

There's some big batteries, a motor, probably a worm gear box, any cool uses?

Is there a special trick to separating the rail where it splits half way along, I've got all the bolts out but it's completely stuck.

we used one for a food hoist in an old peoples home had a box made up for it and had problem with the brake coming on going down until it was sorted out by an engineer the food hoist was working still years after installing it into the property and through the single floor was fun to install it but also fun to do all the work in the home as well

it used to lift 9-11 stone in weight up and down the shaft easily we know as it had to be tested to go up and down in the shaft best way get people stood on it

other uses well chain and cogs could be used on a bender machine for turning the cogs

Welding turntable.....

I got it out today, the motor is 2500 RPM with a 120:1 reduction so the output shaft is ~20 RPM, I'll need to slow it down a bit more to weld on it. It's 24VDC, so it shouldn't be hard to make a PWM controller.

I have an old wheelchair I could make a Dalek with...I have planned a motorised fishing shuttle.......

It must have some serious torque. What about a winch or maybe powering a trolley to carry heavy stuff, machine bits and the like.

Personally i'd say it's wasted on a welding turntable, perfect excuse to buy/make a jenny swage/bead roller if you don't already have one though

I tried 13.8v and got about 12 RPM out but with significantly less torque, I couldn't stop it but I could slow it down by grabbing it. A controller won't be hard to make.

The professionally made turntable we had in work had a tiny motor, 1/4 hp or something like that, it was the gearing that allowed such a small motor to work, and that would slow down if you put your hand against it.

Rolling stiffening beads into things like

If you look up Lazze on youtube you'll get a bunch vids demonstrating all the other ways they can be used. Google bead roller tipping dies and you'll get a vid showing how can they be used to produce curved bends. Can even use 'em for making louvres. Manually powered versions are next to impossible to use without a helper and the helper needs to be reasonably clued up too- driving it smoothly and paying attention etc
0-15 rpm is about the going rate for commercially made examples, several homemade or modified cheapnese (to stiffen them up) examples on the forum

I doubt torque matters too much on a turntable, but if I were to lower the voltage enough for it to slow down satisfactorily, it would have barely any torque.

I have a bungalow too but I could use it to get out of bed in the morning!
