I bought two MK ones, and fitted them in the bedroom, we both have the usual junk plugged in for charging and it all looked untidy.
It said they fit 35mm back boxes - they don't. Had to carefully get the back boxes out, deepen the holes and fit new ones - a pain but managed to do it without chipping the plaster. Don't get warm, work fine.
The tumble dryer on the other hand is a different matter - two weeks ago it started catching fire just as we were near it, leaving the house. The clothes had got so hot they melted and it was about to burst into flames. Never thrown something so heavy so far so fast out of the back door!

I honestly don’t know, I’ve seen a genuine Apple plug in charger explode tho so I suppose anything is possible

Charger pops in the wall, next to curtains and away it all goes and burns the house down as against a charger that pops inside a metal back box in none combustible plaster and its just a nuisance..
I can see them being better and worse - as long as its good equipment its just a toss up really.

Tennant had a chip fat fire once but somehow managed to throw it burning out the back door onto the garden. Insurance man said the same as you, if the curtains got hold the house would have gone up most likely.
must be over 30 years ago now, I was at home with the folks for a weekend, knock at the door, "do you know there's smoke down the side of your house?"
Goes and has a look, , tumble drier on fire, throwing smoke out the vent.. really lucky as everyone was sat in front the telly, other side of the house, no idea, no smell of smoke, nothing it was all going out the vent so caught it pretty early.. Same as you, it's incredible the strength and speed you get with adrenaline...we fairly launched it out the back door..

Yep.. a fire is possible.. As I said, its a toss up really and you have to weigh up all the factors as best as you can, me I'd not use them anywhere BUT I can see why some would.

Yup. Done that myself. Flames behind the drum. Swept everything on top on the floor pulled the plug amd slung it in the garden. It's a good idea, lose connection is going to get hot but could also mean overloading the cable on a ring main.
I set up a thermo survey program in a mine in Oz in the mid 90s and although it was industrial stuff it was very suprising how many lose connections we found.
