US Pro, utter waste of money

Ok, so they really weren’t expensive but I didn expect them to be made of Camembert. Was only an impulse buy anyway and they’ve sat in the box for ages.

A set of long 3/8“ drive hex keys. First use of them, the 4mm one. End snapped off with only one hand on the ratchet. So out of curiosity I put the 6mm in the vice and pulled on the ratchet again. No more than mild to medium grunt in terms of force and that went the same way. Whole lot now in the scrap bin.

Complete and utter rubbish. Now looking for a better quality set.

Formerly Bergen...which were largely very respectable quality for the money.

Possibly another sign of the times.

I bought some of these as wanted to try and vibrate some tractor hinge fixings out with the 3/8 impact gun and didn't want knacker any of the stuff I already had. Didn't get the bolt out initially but the bit didn't break either. A few days later a 3/8 breaker bar was able to undo it.

Also includes the often omitted 7mm which is used on many brake caliper sliders. This is embarrassing to type as I've just bought a couple of 3/8 ones as previously I've always used the trusty 1/2 drive one I bought when I was a lad and I hadn't realised this set had one

I've got a couple of Welzh sets and they seem very good for the money

Got a few Bergen items - used to be an autojumble seller come to Huddersfield 20 odd years ago.
Been robust and long lasting - torx drives and sockets, multi splined drives and sockets, circlip pliers etc.
Only thing to have a slight issue - bought three roller clutch stubby "ratchets" - 1/2", 3/8" and 1/4". The 1/4" sometimes skips a bit.

i have a 3/8 th drive bergen socket set up to 22 mm use it on vehicles all the time .never had one snap or round off yet . allen keys i have a fair few sets all British made and branded names

Maybe the older Bergen stuff is OK, I’ve never had any of them. That Welzch set looks good, but too short for what I need. Also doesn’t have the 9mm which is becoming increasingly used but impact rated has to be good for these things. Most of the ones in my ancient Halfords Pro set have rounded to some degree.

Just seen that King Dick make them. Hmmm. British at least. No other info though.

I have got Uspro sockets and spanners in the yard goonbox, they stand up to a lot of abuse. I dont think cheap and good can be found in bit sets, needs to be a decent brand when it come to allen/torx bits. Halfords pro would be as cheap as I would go on this sort of tooling.

there's a lot of fake USpro stuff around, bought some myself, only noticed because I split an impact socket and had a legit one to compare it to
