How does this work then will it always look like it's stuck on with peeling edges and air bubbles? Got a plain glass panel looking to revamp.

It works pretty well if you can obtain a film which will cover the whole pane in one go and get the application right...

But unless it's a small pane, it's a two person job to do well with no bubbles. One person applies, whilst the other holds the film up and peels the backing.

Having done a couple I would suggest going oversized in every direction very slightly then pushing into the edges with a plastic scraper and trimming to fit with a sharp blade

You do not have to do anything outside or fiddle with any seals unless they are broken.

You don't have to, but why risk damage to the beads & frame when you can remove the gasket & make bead removal easier.

Because they have not used gaskets or foam seals for years ? Not on any mainstream stuff. Don't know about cheapo obscure budget stuff.

As above @MattF push in gasket / seal is very old school indeed as is any window you'd find that is externally beaded .If you started to try and prize the external seal out of modern pvc window "Fecked " would be the end result .

Must be. I changed one a few weeks ago, that was external beads and push in rubber seals, and the label was still on the frame. Made in 1991. Was very yellow too. This is because they used to make them from recycled plastic, now from quality manufacturers, they are only made from virgin material.

For the same reason you sometimes find yellowing plastic bits on cheaper "White goods"

Ask around, we have lots of local double glazing places and they charge similar prices.
They all get their glass from a factory on the other side of town, I now go direct to the glass factory and prices are 75% less than the shops

Many / most (all?) glazing units have a coating that should face outwards, ask in the shop so you know how they mark the inside face.
