It works pretty well if you can obtain a film which will cover the whole pane in one go and get the application right...How does this work then will it always look like it's stuck on with peeling edges and air bubbles? Got a plain glass panel looking to revamp.
But unless it's a small pane, it's a two person job to do well with no bubbles. One person applies, whilst the other holds the film up and peels the backing.
Having done a couple I would suggest going oversized in every direction very slightly then pushing into the edges with a plastic scraper and trimming to fit with a sharp blade
