UPVC Repairer Recommendation (Glasgow)

Hi peeps.

I'm in a mate's place and the door on the conservatory is falling badly.

Had a look and its had a replacement pane but it hasn't been done well. The glass isn't secured by tape nor is it shimmed.

Does anyone know a good firm to use in the Lesmahagow area? Don't want to choose a arbitrary local firm as might get the same one again. This job was done just before they bought this house a year ago.

Can they contact the seller's and ask which firm did the job/supplied the unit? Ought to be some kind of [probably worthless ] warranty with it.....?

To be honest mate it's a rough job on an already rough conservatory. I've not the gear here or the time to fix or else I'd do it.

They don't want whoever did it back. Their call at the end of the day.

your not going to get anyone decent to repair someone elses bodge job and if they would do it they will charge a fair bit

Do you mean it's failing badly or is the door sagging ? We had a problem with our front door where it had drooped and was hard to close and called the installer. They sent out a lad who only lives round the corner from us just to see what the problem was and he sorted it in no time. He took the centre of the door out with a narrow scraper he borrowed off me then rearranged the packers under and around the panel and clicked the securing bead back in and it's been fine ever since. The glass isn't secured by tape, the spacers and mastic hold the unit together the tape is just a bit of a barrier and protection. You can get away with just putting something under the end of the door and lifting it, it will creak but it sometimes stays back up.

That's exactly what I'd be doing mate but I was only visiting so naff all tools etc. Seems really loose to not have any tape on?
