So just putting this here as it’s sod all to do with welding, but as this is a good repository of knowledge it may help someone out.
I bust the door handle in our door as I’m a “f-kin oaf” apparently
Turns out it wasn’t the door handle but the gearbox. The handles turn with no resistance. You can’t open the door to get the mechanism out.
Call to a buddy who is a locksmith and I needed a door jack. (Or a shifter and a bit of 316)
Bevel the edge and you need a bit as wide as possible.
Slide between the door and the frame. With a shifter you can then jack the door edge back. They go back quite a way!
Can’t really max it here and take pic but you get the idea. You may have to try in a few places but you’ll see the pins that latch onto the frame. You can flick them up with a rule.
Door will open. You can then remove the locking bar and waste a few hours trying to find an obsolete lock gearbox. Yay.
Hope this helps someone out
