Good job you don't know me then I've been using Optimate maintenance chargers on bikes for many years and never had a battery fail, 8 years is the longest I can vouch for before selling the bike (with original battery)

Or me! Sadly the Kwack can go three or four months between rides, the alarm / immobiliser used to flatten the battery inside a fortnight. Within the first year the battery was dead due to constant discharge and recharging, I bought it a new battery and an Optimate problem solved. I bought the bike new in 1997 so the replacement battery must have been in service for eighteen years.

Optima and Optimate, two different things I think. Ones a battery and ones a charger.
I can vouch for the Optimate chargers, I've had one a while and they are very good.
I also use halfords batteries as I have a trade card and they seem good.

No..they have two as standard.
That is of course unless every one I've looked at, around 25, have the winter pack, which is highly unlikely..

Afraid not - single battery is standard on all Mark 2 Shogun/Pajero/Montero models, except the 2.5 and 2.8 diesel with the cold climate pack option. Not available on the petrol (2.4, 3.0 and 3.5) models. It's just that most imported from Japan tend to have the option fitted as it wasn't an expensive one. I've been very active in the Pajero Owners Club for many years. My 1991 XR model has almost every single option that was available at that date (cruise control, air suspension front seats, locking rear diff etc). A lot of Pajeros entering the UK don't have the lockable rear diff (whereas most UK Shoguns had it). However there are plenty of Pajeros with it and plenty of Shoguns without it. When you're spending as much as they cost originally, you want plenty of options to choose from

Or me! Ive got an 09 street triple still on original battery. After being not ridden for a few month over winter the battery was completely dead. (I forgot to connect up the optimate). Stuck it on religiously ever since, always OK now. Had it on my zx6 before as well, same for that. (Had that from 2002 to 2010)

i allways thought pageros had twin batterys. ive worked on a fw and theyve all had twin batterys and mates have bought more than a few between them, usally rusty ones to rip the motors out of to resusitate l2oo's

Bit of a side track but do the Mitsubishi's have a problem with their engines?
I've seen a few people mention things about them,
I'm looking to but an Outlander (non phev) that I think have the 2.2 did engines.
I already have an unreliable dog (Vauxhall) and don't want another.....

after fighting with 2.5 mitsubish diesels i'm never haveing anything with a mitsubishi diesel in it again.

met countless, crank keyway pully issues. and stupid belt driven balance shafts that shed there belt and that kills the cam belt, then rocker shafts that just fall in half, and f none of those kill it the head will crack. oh and i've never met an engine that can turn so much fuel into so littel power.

we put a rover v8 into a mates crew cab and if you drove it at the sae speeds that the std engine would allow it was actualy better on fuel

Er... or me. My '54 plate Pan Euro was 5 years old when I got it and had been connected to an Optimate for 6 months of the year by the first owner. I maintained the tradition and it was only last summer that I replaced the battery as it would drop low enough to be unstartable if the ignition was left switched on for 5 mins (permanent sidelights). If I hang the Opti on the old battery, it still reports as serviceable but clearly is dying (it'll be 11 next month). With a full charge it'll still start the bike.
Nursy's 125 Eliminator is plugged into the Aldi equivalent of an Optimate and for the £6.99 I paid for the charger, no way am I going to complain

Same as the Toyota Surf's, standard is one battery, winter pack like mine is a twin set up.

Just a quick update; battery arrived next day as promised and I was given an accurate one hour slot the morning of delivery.

Fitted perfectly and works exactly as you'd expect.
