Hi all,
I have decided to ditch my Sealey "mighty" mig gasless welder 100A for reasons I'm sure you can guess.
My budget is ~£500. I mainly weld 3-8mm mild steel nothing too thick, aluminum is something the definitely interests for the future once I have progressed enough.
Having browsed this forum for a few days I got my initial short list to
Oxford,
R-Tech 180,
Lincoln Bester 190C.
The oxford is out due to the fact that it's 48kg so moving in and out of the shed is not feasible.
The pros of the r-tech are
+it does aluminum with the spool gun
+Gas regulator provided
The Cons:
-The digital display does not show the Volts/Amps settings which, as a beginner, I think is important as you can replicate your settings accurately, this is a pro on the Lincoln which does have these settings displayed. The lincoln seems to have a good rep on this forum but as has been mentioned it's hard to get info about the machine elsewhere unlike the r-tech.
My question is about the bester 190C and its TIG ability to use on aluminum, mainly is it possible? if not, can you add a spool gun like on the R-Tech unit ?. If it can't do aluminum then I think that will swing it in the R-Tech's favour. Thoughts on this or any other alternatives I should consider?
All help appreciated
