My electrician has installed a separate circuit and installed a 20 amp rated socket. There are 2 breakers rated at 32amp although one of the 32amps isn’t connected to a socket as yet.
When looking at the specs of many different welders I’ve found it very difficult to ascertain whether they use a 13amp, 16amp etc, etc. I’m looking to upgrade my Clarke Welder to something that can weld around 8mm (no more than 10mm) without tripping or blowing.
I’ve never seen a picture of a 16amp welder plugged into the wall (perhaps I haven’t asked Google the right questions).
3 questions
Can I run a 16amp welder off one of the sockets using a 13amp adapter?
Can the 20amp rated sockets be changed to 16amp sockets for use with a 16amp welder?
Can I just change the plug on the 16amp welder to a 13amp one?
Without seeing a U.K. domestic setup it’s difficult to get a clear picture and this house can do without being burnt down….again!
Thanks
