I've just sent mine from 10 to 11 and the update took a couple of hours but all is back. It'll ask you when you want to restart and that is a good prompt to do a really good backup.
I was worried they would ask for a Microsoft account. I think they are very keen on Microsoft accounts for new installs but they didn't even ask for one during the update. I'm a bit familiar with 11 from a new computer. Seems to generally work but you need to use the search features a bit more if you want to find anything.
