After much searching I found a UPVC lock place in Milton Keynes. It’s a proper little Aladdin‘s Cave with everything you need for UPCVdoors n Windows.

Took the lock mech with me. Woman at the counter took one look, told me the likely issue and sorted a new one

All fitted and working a treat

It’s not that complicated. Just mark the position of the metal strip on the door. Remove screws and away you go. It was a 30 min job start to finish once I had the correct gearbox mechanism

Just had the same issue with the 30 plus year old Wink Haus mechanism at my mums - the latch not fully retracting - not helped by worn out handles and, when I took the handle off to you, terrible original installation that was out of line.

The actual locking mechanism was absolutely fine, and simply lubing it cured the original problem. A new set of handles, installed in-line and level (by adjusting the holes in the door) improved ease of operation.
