The trick is to make the items look like something they weren't.
That's a fire extinguisher with a lamp shade on top.

Better than a vice with a lamp holder glued in place.

One of the few up-cycle lamps I think look good.
I remembered there was an up-cycling thread on here somewhere......
Anyway, I came across this future family heirloom whilst browsing though FB market place this morning....
Pair of camshaft ornaments.....yours for only £50/pair....."would look good with a light in".......ermm apparently..
And the prices they get for stuff.........unbelievableMoney for Nothing, i cant be the only one who thinks presenter Sarah moore is the most irritating split **** on the telly, takes old stuff from the dump & turns it into "bespoke & desirable things". I hate good things made into lights. Arrgghh.
I would call that repurposing rather than upcycling.Today I upcycled a plastic snow ski case I acquired from a charity shop awhile ago, to store one of our telescopes. I cut foam from a sleeping bag pad to line it, and a couple of closed cell blocks for in the ends. It was a simple conversion which provides substantial protection for transporting, etc..
No choice of colour, but my Wife likes it.

Either way it's better than those stupid lamps!I would call that repurposing rather than upcycling.
Perhaps both ?I would call that repurposing rather than upcycling.
