UNWIN seat track

Hey all has anyone used UNWIN seat track at all? Think I’m the states it’s called L track was looking at it so I could possibly put some removable seats/cabinets in the back of my van.

Any pros cons experiences?

I had some fitted in my most recent Transit. Two things come to mind, make sure the tracks align, both along and across the way and don't surface mount them. Neither of which the professional installers that did mine bothered about. It's easy to flush mount them, fix them directly to the van floor and then used 19mm ply to floor the van.

Check your insurance options if you fit seats, it can reduce the number of companies that will quote and that might affect your premium adversely.

The positives are that it's a doddle lashing stuff down wherever you want to. You can get inserts to keep them clearish of crud too, they are worth it IMO. I was fortunate enough to find all the fittings I needed and more in a car breakers in Carlisle.

Cheers Cheb it’s ok I’m on a motor trade policy and it’s a recovery vehicle so I’m allowed to do any modifications I see fit as long as legal law wise and don’t have to declare them.

I was considering plying and insulating the floor so will flush mount them then.

I gave away a load of clamps. No one wanted them on here.

Look at wheelchair clamps as well Robbie. They’re good for motorbikes.

You can get all manner that goes on an unwin clamp from D rings to actual clampy things like for wheelchairs.

They’re crash tested to quite a lot I seem to remember.

Down side is that they fill with bits which is a pain in the tit. Part of the reason I took them out.

Not beyond the realms of man to make some sort of insert out of wood or plastic to prevent it i suppose

Ive was trained in fitting Vehicle tracking. If you are fitting it, you need to make sure any voids (chassis rail ) are spanned by a crushtube or similar. I forget the size of the washer. around 30x60 minimum rings a bell. You'll go through drill bits if not careful, the Boron in modern vehicle steel is hard on them.

Cheers that’s handy to know I generally tie in the the floor where it’s single flat sheet and the put a spreader plate between a few holes.
