The wife rented out her old flat to a retired teacher, I never took much to do with it, she felt sorry for the guy and never increased the rent in 7 years and in the last few years the guy was obstructive regarding access, even for electrical inspection/test which was about 2 years ago.
Unfortunately he died 2 weeks ago ( only 68, so not expected), so we managed to get confirmation of the situation and the keys back on Friday.
The ground floor flat is 24 years old and was immaculate when the guy took it on.
Bit of a shock to go in to a smell of damp and to find the the cylinder has been leaking and he never got in touch, going by the mould it has been for some time. It was leaking at the top connection which took 2 minutes to sort only to find it is leaking internally too.
So I have gutted out the cupboard, taken up the floor and removed surrounding plasterboard to dry out.
Can anyone recommend a simple unvented cylinder, it is just for domestic hot water ( storage heaters).
I think the old one is 145 litres. We will put the flat on the market when things settle down, so want something decent but not too expensive if possible. Any recommendations? Thanks
