I keep seeing this item turning up on the bay...

I can't work out how you use it, has anyone here ever used one ? knows how good or bad they are ?

Apart from the long tube why the 2 different and strange shaped ends?

They are manufactured as a by product of our parent company ,utilizing off cuts from a large production run that were previously sent for scrap

So the tube thing is off something else they used to make and just used because it does the job..whatever that is.

If you read on, they have stopped welding the chain link to the bolt as this allows tightening with a socket or other tightening tool??.. also they have realised that welding is not achievable at this point due to excessive bird fouling. The description of the industrial and in school test as part of the pre-patent application is nonsense, this type of exposure will make the invention un-patentable! The idea is reasonable as a home made folder that goes in a vice, but £60?? Looks like the type of kit that goes eeeezzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee BANG with a wee clatter at the end as it get hoyed into the scrap pile.

I have one of those, made it ages ago, it wasn't strong enough to do the job I wanted of it so I re-commissioned it into an axle lowering device for the trolley jack when I had to get the rear beam off the Renault to weld the exhaust

I reckon its a recycled leg and foot off a stillage, look at the "welding" where the conical foot joins the tube..., reading his feedback these are selling at up to £100, I can see I'm I'm in the wrong end of the business, should be selling scrap dressed up as a product.

Well I have to agree with you on that, it doesn't look well made at all, but I was hoping someone could point out the wonderful design that I was too blind to see..... I guess I can't see it cos it's not there

I was more interested in how it works than actually considering buying one, clamping a length of angle to the bench to fold steel around will do me fine until I get a box pan folder or make a press brake.
