underseal

i have a mini i need to get the floors ready for welding they have what looks like underseal on them its very thick and im trying to scrape being a rite pain any tricks to get this stuff off its well thick an takin me ages

I tend to use a hot air gun to soften the underseal and then a knife to remove it. Someone on here recently suggested using a strip and clean disc which might be worth a shot (again heat would help). I've used a wire brush on an angle grinder in the past but it tends to spread the underseal around.

Doubtful, and would make one hell of a mess!

Hot air stripper, and a blunt scraper, finishing off with a cup brush on an angle grinder - should be able to strip a mini in around 2 hours.

I tend to use a wire brush on a drill. It can get a bit messy but not as bad as using a cup brush on a grinder and it removes the underseal pretty quickly.

My dad has used poly discs on the grinder for removing underseal.

Are we talking undersueal on the outside, or the sound deadening on the inside?
If the latter, i found that on a cold day it can be chipped off quite satisfyingly. However, when warm it goes a bit like fudge and leaves a mess!

i stripped the whole inside of my car and used a twisted wire cup in a grinder did make quite a mess but it was quick and left it all shining

ill have a look out for them
i did some with a heat gun and it took ages but worked

These are the cups. there great used them to strip a trailer back to bare metal.
