usually, you get what you pay for, but once in a while you come across something which is cheap, but works surprisingly well for the price.
would anyone like to share?
rules: it's got to be readily available at the cheap price.
not "clearance" or special offers
I'll start with this:
https://www.screwfix.com/p/wood-drill-bit-set-35-pieces/9101v
16 saw-edged Forstner bits, 5 auger bits, plus Brad points and spade bits for £35
not used in anger yet, but test cuts in birch ply show much better, cleaner holes than my last set.
they complement these metal cutting holesaws which I bought from the bay last year : still going strong after 20 or 30 holes in 6mm plate, and less than a fiver for the set
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-x-HSS-...teel-Metal-Alloy-Cutter-16-30mm-/123255782025
in the same vein, someone in a different thread recommends these diamond hole saws for tile and ceramic. I've just ordered myself a set - I'll take the risk for £6.39!
