I wanted to visit this bunker after visiting the one near Brentwood, found out the visiting times arrived to find a sign on the gate tour full, no admittance and the gates locked.

There was no mention of limited numbers of people on the tour information site, after a one and half hour drive down from Filey, I was Not Happy to find the gates closed 5 minutes before the advertised closing time.

I would think that the bunker at RAF Holmpton would be almost completely in its original state being as its on a RAF Base...but I never saw it....

A place you should go if your interested in seeing some bunkers is Beacon hill Fort in Harwich. It's private land and there's a 7 foot fence around it but a trampled down footpath leads past a couple of pillboxes to a gap in the fence. There's maybe 20 - 30 underground bunkers, 20+ towers and above ground buildings and a network of tunnels ( that we couldn't explore because someone, not me, dropped the torch ).
It is private land but a policeman stopped us and just said something like "I can tell your not doing any trouble, carry on"

There where some "unsavoury" people there when I went, up one of the towers (Darrell's batteries) dr inking and generally being a pain - but no fires luckily.
In the second link, Felixstowe port looks beautiful at night.

I've been to the bunker at Kelvedon Hatch and some of the details of it are pretty mental. It's the size of a three storey office block and surrounded by ten foot thick heavily reinforced in-situ concrete which was apparently constructed in one continuous pour to avoid day joints in the structure which would have left week spots, and so would have required concrete trucks arriving at site non-stop day and night for a couple of months to complete.

Would have been lovely, sat in a hole in deepest hereford doing B all.
I have been and had a look, interesting for about 5 minutes.
it was open ;ast time I looked a few months back if any interested types are passing by.

Not a bunker, but a mate in Norfolk has a workshop in the operations room of an eighth airforce base. You can still see some of the air ducting in case of gas attack and just visible is the readiness board for the aircraft painted on one wall. The actor Jimmy Stewart was commander and his office is still as was.

Around here, on the Isle de Re, there is a whole area of bunkers, not on the tourist maps, complete with a big fire control tower hidden in the pine woods. We had a look while visting friends there. The tower is accessable (brick walls over entrances have been bashed in.) but I understand one needs ladders inside. The thing is 60+ft high. All part of Hitler's Atlantic Wall.

We were on the Isle de Re in June, spent a few days there cycling around, I wish I'd known, I'd have kept a lookout for them.
