Now if ya won't to be brave...I have this in the watch list.
yeah the blades last a long time and you can pick them up for 2 quid from autojumblesdo these have any benefits over bandsaws?
no use they snag on the teeth as there not fine enoughWhat are they like on smaller guages like exhausts.
And when the blade has finally given up..yeah the blades last a long time and you can pick them up for 2 quid from autojumbles![]()
That's what i expectedno use they snag on the teeth as there not fine enough

Power hacksaws do seem to be having a renascence, not so long ago you couldn’t give them away.
Very nice lump of iron btw.

Most places I have used them they have been mainly for cutting heavy material for final machining as opposed to cutting to size although they are capable if in good working order and the feed is controllable. Have you considered a cold saw? Clean, accurate cuts with little deburring required ideal for welding.
That sounds quicker than a Clarke bandsaw
I did similar with my jigsaw.and if you realy want value for money out of the blades they normally wear out in a particular spot if your cutting only about 25 mm bar . just stick a 2 inch square block in the vice and it moves the position of the cuts further along the blade![]()
Ive got a cold saw was after a replacement to the bandsaw i left at my dads when i moved into my workshop.
What sort, does it run slowly with coolant?
Evolution saw and cold saw is like comparing a band saw to a gas axe, two totally different beasts.
Well I learnt something, I did not consider an Evolution Saw to be a cold cut saw but is by definition as the heat is passed to the chip leaving the blade and work cool. A large slow moving blade with flood coolant has always been a cold saw in my mind as the heat transfers to the coolant via the chip. Not having used an Evolution Saw, maybe @mtt.tr can comment on the heat side in the work and blade?
