Great fun fitting out isnt it Sparky, i loved fitting out my boats, spent every weekend at the boats for months on end faffing with them.

Yep much fun but not as good as turning up at your favourite spot opening the side door and doing something you really enjoy!
Haha I need a tuit too! I also have a leaky kitchen tap in need of attention for a good while!

Narrowboat sold as out of work due to illness so needed funds, garage is still on the cards and not started, that takes time and the kit car is waiting for it to be built lol. LDV is fooked, no point in waisting money on a pile of rust...i remember some one on here saying not to go to far with fixing it

Finished the fish tank though.

Ok enough slating, i can take it but i WANT ANOTHER non starter project .

Which is best on fuel then in all the big vans, i know the old MK5 transits are good old slugs with the banana engine, but i would prefer the newer MK6. never looked at others but at the minute its running cost to look at.

Ha I finished some roof bars for my mates t4 on sunday and fitted them too! Wohoo 1 less to do! Fuel economy on my Lt is about 430miles for £75 with all our gear in it off on a jolly!

Yeah not too bad best on long haul trips, it's a 52 plate Lt35 high roof, bottom spec no electric anything but I like it simple had no end of problems with central locking in the past! They are great vans and with a bit of love will go forever, my brother has the top spec LT35 on an 06 plate and some of the extras are really nice but each to their own! I have a y reg one too had it for 8 years and never let me down till the clutch went in that at about 208000miles but rust is its best buddy, I bought that for £2300 with 40k on it and has been used nearly every day up and down the country since.

my lt i`ve had from new in 2004 and have recorded every fill up done, averages out 28mpg thats for the 400,000 + miles its done, it has the five pot 2.5ltr engine, still same engine/gbox injectors, pump, starter,alternator, new clutch when was in the 300,000+ miles period,

Fair play that's same engine as I have pretty bomb proof really! 28mpg sounds about right to me they are reasonable. Clutch mm my 52 plate lasted till 300k but the y reg has had all sorts of numptys driving it so who knows? I know one lad who has the same age merc sprinter that has been round the clock and still going strong he had it resprayed a couple of months ago again as it was starting to look like a shotgut practice target!

Yeah they are getting a bit rarer these days and after about was it 07 the changed them to the crafter which are ok but not a patch on the LT still a few out there though

last were 06/56, mind you look at the crafters and srinters new shape and they seem worse than the old ones, i had a new shape sprinter a new one 58 reg, rust was all over in small specs, on rear doors, round front door windows, behind the plastic rub strip down sides, around rear lights, she soon went

if w.olly takes his time with the lt it may become a collectors van and increase in value

Yes I have a mate with a new sprinter and that has small bubbles of rust all over the place not good at all, they are all too cheaply made these days, and only to last 4-5 years and then the lease company have it back and give you a new one! I doubt there will be many new ones that last as long as the ones we have! And the electronics on them are ***** too!!

you know whats funny about them thou, if you look underneath they are plastered in rust protection, resembles a over iced cake, yet they did nothing to stop the body rotting

A van that used to be a home-conversion favourite was the old Renault Master - the slab-sided monster. Ex-minibuses were fantastic, they had more windows than you could shake a stick at, sliding side door, swing-down step... loads of it was done for you. I don't think the later Master was as big or as user-friendly and most of the old ones must have gone to French van heaven by now.

Hah, sussed what to get, no project involved either to not start, get another Mitsi Paj/Shoggy ( had 4 in the past, best ever if looked after ) and caravan lol. how about that snoops

Just had a quick look around at 2002`ish LT35`s, not many in my budget like the Transit or Daily, maybe that is saying something about the LT, better and more reliable maybe.
