I haven’t seen a Terrano for a long time, all seem to have gone.Nissan terrano, older one are everywhere here, so if farmers are running them you know they can stand abuse.
Yes I did the irony, was because I was being a little silly and not doing the grown up thing and parting with the car I had on finance that I couldn't afford the payments for anymore. Unlike payments if I can't afford the fuel I just don't put fuel in so I'm not so worried about consumption anymore..... didn't you start a thread the other day about wanting to get more mpgs/lower running costs...?
If it HAS to be 4x4;
Jimny
Panda
If it HAS to be able to carry lots but can be 2wd;
Any decent old estate
If it can be both 4x4(esq) and able to carry lots; an old AWD estate;
Audi allroad
Octavia (whatsistname)
No offence but that's madness! There's lots of other options out there that don't require that kind of work!
Yeah I'm actually seriously thinking about doing this till the second hand car market gets back to a more sensible prices.Put 3 k in the bank, buy a 1k anything that goes and is cheap to run, save up for better!
Only problem I ever had with my dmax it wasn't a land rover.But they are not Land Rovers

Panda is not a bad Shout they aren't bad wee cars. The Jimmy like them too played around with a couple but they are weirdly terrible on fuel combination of box on wheels and tiny petrol engine you have too rev the nuts off to get them to move. Live the Volvo XC 70 nice cars though probably not quite enough ground clearance for my application and I'd prefer low range if possible.
Ok that's an interesting thing to know thanks for that as it will be often used as a people bus.unlike @8ob I would NOT go with the trooper
A number of years ago I test drove a new trooper. I started in the back with the salesman driving and felt really queasy. He poured scorn on my comments until it came for his turn in the back. When we returned to the showroom he said "I see what you mean"
Nice looking one that, yes 10k is a bitmuch.This is the same spec as mine and looks a nice truck. Some nutters are asking 10K for these!

I've never come across either issue, but I guess that's the point of these conversations - to get someone else's experiences.the chassis wont cause issues ,,,, but you didnt mention rear jacking points ive four of these in a line to be done , low oil level is killing them rather quickly too . the oil level sensor wont detect low oil early enough , so id you go up a steep hill they can starve and then its all over , three of those sitting in the yard too . bare motor is 8k plus vat and then fitting ,,, beware .
Totally ,,, if your aware of the issues you can at least observe them and at best avoid them ,,I've never come across either issue, but I guess that's the point of these conversations - to get someone else's experiences.
Audi allroads ,,, galved from the factory etc , better ground clearance than a range rover mine has well over 200k on it , and is nicer underneath than it is ontop , paints faded now and the interior is showing its age , but Ive used it as a van for ten years , welding gear , diving gear and a lot of gardening too , still got the original exhaust etc , not without its problems , but all sorted out relatively easily , Its now running a second hand range rover air pump for the suspension and a bag piping andy piston ring in it and its happy .I'm biased a little but 4k should get you a really nice landcruiser colorado, yes they can rust but what 20 year old 4x4 doesn't. I was really lucky with mine and it's not required any welding or major repairs. It's at 156k and has done everything I've thrown at it with ease apart from being fuel efficient.
Thats cos they rust, really badlyI haven’t seen a Terrano for a long time, all seem to have gone.
Late to the party on this one butAlright guys. Unfortunately me and my Isuzu dmax had to part ways as the monthly payments were just too much, I had some other debts to pay off and it was the sensible thing to do when I was offered more than what I payed for it including the Vat 2 years and 12000 miles later.
So I'm on the hunt for a new 4x4. Why I just like them to be honest can't really think of any other valid reason. So I'm looking at the following.
Old Isuzu trooper 3.0 ltr
Older L322 range rover tdv8
Earlier 3.0ltr Isuzu dmax before 2012 body change
Old ford ranger/Mazda bt50
Any other suggestions or advice as to what I should be looking at. I have £4000 to play with and that hopefully should include road tax for the year too. I'm leaning more towards having just a 4x4 than a pick up cause I must admit the pick up while good always seemed to never have enough space even for such a massive vehicle. Vans are another possibility but I'd prefer them to be 4x4 which usually means they are outside my budget. Looking for something that won't rot away Infront of me, so a bit of natural rust resistance would be great.
