Ultrasonic cleaning fluid

I regularly have to clean old car shock absorbers made from Mazak, so essentially a carb cleaner would probably be the fluid to use in my heated ultrasonic cleaner. But I also don't ever buy anything with dire warnings on the label about serious eye damage etc. Too easy for residue to get onto fingers and tools by mistake. I'm currently using Jizer, but not sure its the most effective stuff to use.

Has anyone got any carb cleaner or ultrasonic cleaner they could recommend, that doesn't come with a list of awful warnings as long as your arm

I have one of his ultrasonic cleaners and carb cleaning fluid but I've only used it on some DTIs so far, but have some chain saw carbs to clean soon.

I've got some of that stuff.
It did a good job of cleaning the dinky carb on my elderly Honda EX1000 suitcase generator.
(Lots of aerosol carb cleaner & several strip downs, airline etc still required the gen to run on part choke or it'd hunt like a pig as the governor tried in vain to get the motor stable. One good session in the US cleaner in a solution of this gunk sorted it).

@rileytim I use plain water to clean the high zinc alloy castings in mine.
Takes a lot longer but saves dissolving the alloy.

No safety data sheets on Bills website, but the labels on the carb cleaner etc. all say can cause serious damage if in eyes, rinse and seek medical attention. Same as the Allendale PCB stuff. Not that I plan to spill or not use goggles when using that sort of stuff, but I use it everyday so it is bound to happen.

WD-40 do a degreaser that is safe to use in ultrasonic cleaners, but only seems to be available in the US

Yep, Mazak is also known as Zamak, a name change I suspect as it got a bad name and became known as monkey metal. The shock absorbers are basically a vane hydraulic pump. Mazak works as a good bearing material, but the units are prone to cracking - essentially splitting in half, as its under high pressure inside the shocks.

De-limonene is the best stuff Ive used in a Ultrasonic cleaner. It's the clear liquid from the rind of Citrus fruit. Found in just about every cleaning product know to man these days.

It can be bought "neat" ie watered down; the thicker the liquid the less water has been added.

Those lever arm shocks were famous for giving moggy thous, Mortis oxfords etc the nodding dog syndrome, ours did, made you seasick. What went wrong in them to cause this?

When you say tumbler is that one where you put grit in it?

I have yet to get my collets clean (rust free) since my wife kindly put them out in the rain.
