I’m in the process of removing oxidised paint from and then polishing a red toolbox at my workplace. Currently I’ve found that the fastest and least damaging way is by scrubbing the oxidation off with a piece of scotch brite, running over the scratches with Farecla G3 on a woollen drill wheel then using the edge of the woollen wheel, with nothing on it, to polish to a shine.
I did try fine sandpaper before, but, not being as flexible as scotch brite, it cut through the paint instead of riding over the orange peel hills nicely like the scotch brite does.
Scrubbing with the scotch brite is the toughest bit. It’s also leaving a fair bit of scratching.
Are there any super fine scotch brite wheels for a drill, which would make light work of removing oxidisation, without lifting the paint.
Are there any other methods I could be using that would be less time consuming?
Thanks.
