I'll have a look tomorrow in the daylight for a date code, If my memory serves me right we only had them done a couple of years ago and were brand new when fitted.how old is the tyre there should be a date code
Nexen are a pig for that.Mine are cracking on the outside edge of the front wheels. They are Nexen about 3 years old. I've never had this before and guess it's something to do with the compounds they are using these days.
Had a puncture fixed just before the MOT. Tyre people told me I needed new tyres. So I asked the MOT guy to look at them and he was happy.

Some of the worst cracked tyres I seen, had been covered in that stuff from new.slap some tirewall black on them and forget it
If these were my tyres, I would have replaced them much earlier than this.. The tread also seems to be worn and below it's allowable limit anyway.Mine are cracking on the outside edge of the front wheels. They are Nexen about 3 years old. I find that continental are desperate for cracking prematurely. You will find a lot of the more "budget" brand tyres to the cracking in the treads thing.
I used to buy Nexen tyres but never had the problem. I generally do not buy budget brands anyway now, and stick to well known brands as they last longer, are quieter, and better in most other respects. Most important being that if you have to crash stop, they will stop you a couple of metres sooner, which can make all the difference between a load of hassle/a big bill, and loss of NCD.
