I’m not being funny but a buddy tig is a Chinese budget machine.
If you went for a ESAB CaddyTig DC it would be very reliable. That’s a European machine.

At the time I could only afford the buddy tig but when I get my acdc I'll get a better one

There is nothing wrong with them. In fact they are ideal for home hobby machines.
The caddy is better obviously and it’s price reflects that’s.
Personally I can’t see a service engineer wasting his time getting his fingers inside that. I’m surprised they are dragging it out. With stuff like the buddy’s it’s usually obvious if it’s gone wrong and should just be replaced with another off the shelf. Machine then sent back to Esab who would then replenish the distributor with a new one. That’s how I’d imagine it would work. More expensive machines would be possibly repaired and looked into. Get on the blower on Monday and tell them it’s gone on long enough

Do you think I could get a good make secondhand for that price my local the gives you a loan machine has a jasic 200 ace. Digital mini that'll be on offer in a month for 1050

This is quite a lot. It’s boardering on a full time machine. I’d save up till you’ve doubled your budget personally and go for something really nice.

Update I phoned them an he said that they were wating for a reply o esab and he will phone when he heard from them I said I needed it and I wasn't happy but he said I'll have to wait there's nothing he can do

I would demand a replacement machine for the interim.
whether he obliges or not,it would be the last time id puchase as much as a tungsten from him

Unfortunately, distributors don’t carry out warranty repairs for ESAB as far as I know. It has to go to one of the approved service technicians.

A proper dealer should have a test bay when you are buying and be an authorised repairer when you have a problem.
The two agents I would consider if I was buying an esab have both the above. Box shifters have none of these things.

Always try and buy from a place who can get stuff sorted and is within an hours drive. Imo, it's worth more than a few quid

I have to say though unless it's something daft it will land in the bin unchecked and replaced
