Turbo 150en Connection

I have just rebuilt my mig and am having problems with the thick wire connected to the back of the negative connector. I don't know where it connects to, it must go to somewhere in the wire feed side as its not long enough to reach the other side. I tried connecting it to the case but everything got rather hot when I did that. I have been using the diagram for the 110en as I can't find one for the 150en. Please can someone help me with a picture etc.

Does this welder have a choke? Looking at various Clarke diagrams the -ve terminal connects to the output of the choke, if there isn't a choke it will connect to the -ve of the rectifier (if there are 4 diodes on the heatsink). If there are 2 diodes on the heatsink it will connect to the centre tap of the transformer secondary.

Yes it has a choke but the wire is not long enough to reach through the bulkhead between the wire feed side and transformer side. I'll have a better look at it tomorrow and take some pics. I found the manual on here further down the Clarke forum.

I finally fixed the problem. It seems that when this welder was refurbished and sold the torch was incorrectly fitted. The lead going to the torch was connected to earth while the output from the diodes was connected to the liner at the wire feed connector. This meant that even though I was seeing 70V at the torch there was no current. I made a copper connector from a bit of old bus bar and joined both wires together so the potential is the same at both ends. If only I had looked at the torch first it would have saved me from using most of my 150EN to fix this Cosmo 170 / SIP 170.
